The message opens in 2 Kings 4 with the Shunammite woman, tracing her hospitality toward Elisha, the promised son, the son's sudden death, and her refusal to accept anything less than restoration. Along the way the message exposes the enemy's pattern of intimidation and aggravation aimed at devastation, and contrasts confession against concession as the determining factor in how a crisis resolves. It carries the theme into 2 Kings 8, where restoration extends beyond the son's life to the return of everything the family lost during famine, land and years included, closing with Joel's promise to restore the years and a call to expect that restoration now.
