Win with Your Thoughts

The Creator God made us in His image. He made us to imagine, create, and win. In Genesis 11 during the Tower of Babel incident, God himself makes an amazing statement about mankind. He says, The people are united, and they all speak the same language. After this, nothing they set out to do will be impossible for them!

Those people were united against God, but imagine what we can do when we are united and determined to work with Him and His people.

If we believers are to accomplish the “impossible” supernatural call of God, we will have to line our thoughts up to His higher ones. It’s easy to use our imagination to replay that destructive argument over and over in our minds, or to picture ourselves unleashing all our anger on our boss or (worse yet) our spouse. Ouch! Instead, here are a few ways to use your thought life to win and not lose.

  1. Cast down negative and self-defeating thoughts, memories and regrets. 2 Corinthians 10 reminds us to cast down imaginations and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ. Do you have knowledge of God and His mercy? Of His love and forgiveness? Of His grace to help you in every time of need? Those nagging memories of failure are exalting themselves against this knowledge, and you need to cast them down. Repeatedly. Consistently. Put them in thought jail. Eventually they will learn to stay there if you’ll also…
  2. Meditate on and mutter the Word of God. Joshua 1:8 says, “This book of the Law shall not depart out of your mouth; but you shall meditate therein day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written therein; for then you shall make your way prosperous, and then you shall have good success.” Now you have something good to replace the bad stuff you just banned. Joshua only had 5 books of the Bible to think about, and he managed to defeat Jericho. We have 66 books, and God will bring it alive to you if you give it proper space in your mind and in your mouth. This is the birth of your success!
  3. Imagine this Word applied in your life. Instead of imagining what will happen if the Word fails, imagine what will happen when it works! What if you really can DO. ALL. THINGS. through CHRIST who strengthens you? What if the same power that raised Christ from the dead dwells in you? What if that power makes your body alive by the Spirit? There’s no end to what we can conquer– and to what we can accomplish- when we take the God-ordained power of our minds and infuse it with the power of His Word.

None of us like to lose. With God renewing our minds to His power and purpose, we can win every day for Him!
