Jesus said this would happen. In Matthew 24, when he described the world just before His coming, he said, “Nation or ethnic group will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines, pestilence, and earthquakes.” He said, “Many will be offended, will betray one another, and will hate one another.” He said, “because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold.” But then He gives what I believe is the answer, the way forward for us. In verse 14, He says “This gospel of the kingdom will be declared in all the world.” The answer for the trials we face today is the gospel, the good news of Jesus’ grace. We cannot erase our own sin, yet He gave His life to do just that. Then He brings all believers into one glorious family from every tribe and tongue, from every kindred and nation.
